Perhaps the biggest improvement to Synchronisation since Synchronisation itself; Asset DB v4.6 introduces the ability to collaborate on Solution Designs via the Asset DB server.
Much like Project synchronisation, Solution Designs can be uploaded to the server either simply for additional backup and archive purposes, or for complex solutions that require multiple designers to access the Solution all at once.
Solution Design elements (sites, buildings and floors) can be locked by a user to help maintain data integrity while multiple users are working on the same design.
Locking a floor, for example, will prevent any other user form being able to move volume or assets on or from that floor. This will ensure the solution you design is the solution you end up with.
Locking can also apply to Product Catalogue and Product Costs tabs to further ensure data integrity.
To keep track of who is working on which part of a Solution, elements can be marked with assignment information. Free text boxes allow for any information to be added to Site, Building and Floors without impacting the naming structure of those items.
This information is then shared with any users downloading that Solution.
Element assignment can also be used in the Current state tab for Project elements.
In addition to keeping track of who is working on a Solution or Project element, it will also be possible to keep a track of progress of those elements with Asset DB v4.6.
Users will be able to mark a site, building or floor in the Project or Solution as “Complete”. This can be for personal use to make the elements your own “To-Do” list, or can be shared with others via Project or Solution synchronisation to communicate the status of your part of the project.
As with all Asset DB releases, v4.6 also contains a number of performance and usability improvements.
